Jackson Hole Photography Studio offers a wide range of workshops both in-studio and outdoors.  All workshops include instructional time along with hands-on experience using the best equipment available and can provide it if participants do not have their own.  Exact workshop dates are arranged in consideration of general weather conditions, time of year, wildlife behavior and migration among other key factors.  All to help improve your workshop experience.  More details about the different kinds of workshops, their rates, general safety considerations, workshop requirements plus getting around Jackson Hole can all be found in the specific categories below.

Yellowstone & Grand Teton Workshops

A blend of the Grizzly Bear Workshop, the Wildlife Workshop and the Landscape Workshop make this the most inclusive workshop of all.  Visit both Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks to photograph the peaks, valleys and streams plus all the wildlife that call these places home.  Elk, moose, wolves, bears and more freely roam these spectacular landscapes.  Learn how to get the most from your camera gear in a basic workshop.  Or, attend an advanced workshop for even more comprehensive detail.  All workshops are limited to four photographers of similar experience level.  All workshops include indoor sessions explaining how to optimize camera and lens settings plus the best shooting techniques for landscapes and wildlife.  Wildlife safety is also very important and completely explained.  Then we head into the parks with our cameras at sunrise, sunset and important times in between to photograph the landscapes and wildlife that surround and populate the entire Jackson Hole Valley.  Follow the link below for more details about the all-inclusive Yellowstone & Grand Teton Workshops.

Grizzly Bears Wake Up

Usually during March, the bears wake up and come out of hibernation. Exactly when is the great question and the answer depends on winter snowfall, spring temperatures and how fast the snowfields melt down.  Follow the link below for more information about Grizzly Bear Workshops including details about grizzly bears, when to see them, costs, requirements and related things to do in Jackson Hole.

Great Grey Owl

Wildlife Workshops

Out in the field photographing The Big Six is what Wildlife Workshops are all about.  The Jackson Hole area is habitat to many animals and birds that roam freely.  Shooting moose, bison (American Buffalo), elk, wolves, black bear, pronghorn, eagles and more with high powered telephoto lenses can be challenging and very rewarding.  Learn how to hand-hold long focal length lenses for those fast moving subjects.  Learn the best camera settings for clean and clear images.  Whether your final product will be for web publication, large format prints or just for fun, you will learn it all.

Night Sky

Night Sky Workshops begin during March.  Jackson Hole Photography Studio does offer limited winter season outings when the winter night skies tend to be the most clear, but be forewarned that Jackson Hole winter nights can get extremely cold.  Twenty to forty below is not uncommon.  Appropriate winter clothing will be required for dates between October and February.  Most Night Sky Workshops are scheduled to coordinate with the New Moon and Full Moon cycles.  The "digital camera age" has made beautiful night sky imaging possible for everybody.   Follow the link below for more information about learning what kind of camera gear is required, which lenses are best, how optical aberrations affect your images, how to operate camera equipment in total darkness and, of course, how to manage wildlife situations during the night.
